Meet the sweetest little boy named Benjamin.
It was discovered at his moms’s 20 week ultrasound that Benjamin only had 3 pumping chambers in his heart instead of 4. The long and the short of it is that he will have a much shorter life span and will have limitations due to decreased oxygen circulation. The doctors told his mom and dad he would only live for a few days after birth and then they said he could live for a few months. They were admitted into hospice care as soon as they were discharged from the hospital after he was born.
After he began to thrive so well, Benjamin was discharged from hospice at his 2 month birthday. In October of 2011, he celebrated his 4 month birthday and he is doing amazing. Growing and developing just as any baby would. He had a cardiac catheterization in September and the doctors informed his mom and dad he was a good candidate for heart surgery. Benjamin’s surgery was Nov 10th and was an extremely big surgery and was considered palliative (not corrective.)
Sadly, sweet Benjamin received his angel wings last evening. We will never forget the words his mom and dad said to us… “having this time with Benjamin has been a true blessing and we are so grateful for every day we get to spend with him.”
We would like to extend our thanks to Shey Detterline of Shey Marin Photography for her beautiful photography of this most beautiful family.
To Benjamin’s family, you are in our thoughts and prayers.
